Perhaps I'm a bit of a motorized bicycle snob, but I have an issue to share.
By the very definition a motorized bicycle is indeed a bicycle with a pedal assist gasoline engine.
To build a single speed (fixie) motorized bike is simular to building a motorized canoe without paddles.
If you can't paddle at the speed of the engine, than than the paddles are unnecessary.
Likewise, If you can't pedal at the speed of your bike engine, the pedals are useless. You have not built a motorized bike, but rather a pitiful mototcycle.
Rohloff Speed Hub or a full range of gears employed.
A true motorized bike with gas engine pedal assist rides at 20mph in 14th gear with resistance on the pedals.
All others are just a laughing matter that destroys/threatens all pure riders futures enjoying the freedom of touring.
