So I got good news I got a bike today, saved from a junk yard "ELECTRA CLASSIC" I call her.....

"Carmen Santiago"

It has hard backed steel rack built into the bike perfect for motor mounting but not for off-road abusing.

Has 700c wheels "going to need gearing calculations for rear sprocket help, tooth recommendations for 30meh, and would it be acceptable to mount the engine block on a piece of plywood or hard water proofed stained wood.

Thinking, big, attached below is a picture of the rack.

Purty perfect, SG.

Will the rack need to be reinforced?

Really like the idea of having a big old 4 smoke but really don't enjoy wide or short peddling with inframe mounted.

I had been thinking about a set up with a belt drive and a suicide type shifter to engage. So instant bike/MB sorta deal.

But looking forward to seeing ya get her done.

Where did you get a 3 horse Briggs?

Offer up! the guy wanted 20 for it he happened to be in my local area.

Claims its been sitting in his garage and was a motor an old roommate left.

So when he brought it didn't have no oil I put 1 dollar gas in it and found that out later...

Good thing the carb was all gummed up and flooded really badly in the filter neck.

So I eshed him down to $15.00 after that, it sat for a few days so only had to do some carb work, spray choke cleaner with the carb dismounted from the intake only.

It's a steal deal....

The rack mount thing sounded better because if it throws a rod I'd rather it get thrown across the street at another vehicle vs throw at my crotch.

The rack is pretty strong has a tiny bit of play on it but only racks left that are stronger then that are the 1950s and 60s built in Schwinn beach cruisers.

Electra USA built these bikes starting in 93 when there was a lack of cruisers on the market it's actually a german made bicycle manufactured in Taiwan after 2003.

Electra was built between two Germans who took and made their first bike with a 30k savings, they got laughed at by bike shops until one day they started selling and it's been history ever since.

The misses think its homeless junk I told her THAT BIKES UNTAMPERED WITH "Electra Amsterdam."

Has the original poisonous green color.

She fails to realize as a mechanic who has been serving king county for the past 4 years in business "I owe my self the RESPECT to put myself back on a driving vehicle."

I let her have her 4 vehicles but I won't continue to keep stressing my back carrying my huge sack of loaded tools.

Everytime I want a vehicle it's a problem so I'll just jump through her loop hold not going to keep me walking with that oversized sack of tools my left leg tweaks out from lifting too much, have a slight pinch underlies.

I feel her auto mobiles are more junk them my bikes have ever been the difference between me and her is that I won't ride the car like a dog and not fix what needs to be fixed.

Which is why I'd never let her drive anything I got....

Reckless women "tsh tragic" no offense to her but she don't even walk to the store so bump her and her thoughts about my bike lol if I drop 16HP one day I'm gone whoop you and that bucket out the box hahaha.

Women, lol.

Maybe you could use angle iron brackets as motor mounts and reinforcing struts for the rack.

Suweeet deal, SG!

I was thinking just some flat stock but think 5-7 is right and would work way better. Took BA's advice and played with alumiweld. It's just sticks that ya heat with a touch, well the work piece. And it sorta a weld. But the stuff is amazing. Don't know if ya can properly call it a weld but I could not break the joints. The aluminum bent before the joints broke.

Dunno but cold make some braces and built em on. The joints ground down beautifully. Just thinking it might be an option. Thinking the rack might wiggle it self to death. (hehe, he said "wiggle")((dunno either. Just found it funny.dang meds))

LoL @ the rod thing. Ayup, way better a javelin then an impalment!

Woman be crazy, yo. Second most crazy of the species, fo' sho'. Well, at least a runner up when not in the lead.

I was thinking of doing that stick welding thing too due to the way the crankshaft sets the motor would throw vertically, so the rack shouldn't wiggle more of a pull, but before it throws a rod it would knock first or rattle.

Should put in for lock tite, if any issues may be encountered with vibration would be a good idea to weld an extra heavy gauge 18 gauge plate strip down to the frame professionally as I don't want fat glob welds may even prefer spot welds or "w" welds to increase its hold.

I will have to pedal as well to start off the line at about 10-15 mph the throttle could be used to take off some of stress on the wheel.

3HP should pass in WA but may need to set the throttle stop as well to cut 10mph off the top.

Everyone knows except police that 3HP is actually about 79cc's

Virtually speaking a 2.5HP is equivalent to 49cc exact but can do 40mph.

Anyone have a tooth recommendation ?
I here most China girls use 47 tooth but do about 25mph to 30mph I will get the clutch teeth amount when I get back home as well.

In addition, some use 32-35t and go past 30mph.

I want more acceleration/torque vs top speed.

Loss of power on hill not my want,

Two stroke engines rev higher than yours so sprocket needs/gear ratios are different.

I'd advise you to search the forums for an engine and bike similar to yours. If their gear ratio works well for them, use the same sprockets that they use.

So the aspects are 3600rpm with a 12 tooth clutch.... shouldn't I multiply 12x2 or 12x3 which would give me the gear ratio.

On a website they told me I need 110 teeth to hit flat 30.3 mph from mini bike calculator but doesn't underline HP take a look..

Is this correct and I am worried about bandwidth so I may want to drop to 100t and throttle stop it.

It works for me.

If it's broken, copy and paste the link.

If they suggesting 110 tooth sprocket, you need a transmission or jackshaft to lower your gear ratio.

Other members will chime in.

Awe crud oil -.- I here jack shaft kits suck so badly how do those things work anyway can I just modify the teeth at the clutch to decrease speed? Or I could adjust the internal clutch springs to make the clutch drop off at the top speed.

I really would rather throttle stop vs Jack shaft or throw in a tranny

If I use a 47 tooth I'll be doing 72 mph .bld..bf.

Use your 12-tooth engine sprocket. Chain it to a 24t jackshaft sprocket.

Use that 47t rear wheel sprocket.
Chain it to a 10t jackshaft sprocket.

That'll be almost 30mph @ 3600rpm.

how would I fit all that?

Frame bolt on type? Or pillow blocks with rods.

The way I see it on the steel motor mount plate that shall be welded,

1) Motor pushed to the back of the rack.

2) in between motor and seat Jack shaft 1= 24 tooth Jack shaft with a pillow and rod.

3) frame bolted or welded 10tooth behind or close to the pedal axle.

4) 10t to 24t rear wheel sprocket like a "C shape".

I doubt I would spend $120 on parts and welding.

"As of this moment on the 14th of July, 2017"

I will ride it as is and figure out an alternative option.

I'd rather throw on a gy6 clutch some how and throttle stop the bike.

At this moment, I will run it straight "as is."

If I have to, I will get my "endorsement" before even "thinking" about spending all that in parts and welds.

They cost the same and I already have a license how hard could it be?

If I had tail lights, I'll take a test on my own bike, then law cannot say "nothing".

It will be abiding by law of the state, by having endorsement so legally I wouldn't have to register it yes tab or plate it same rule grey area.

As for now if I can cut expense belt drive would be cheaper there are free parts from lawn equipment decks...

More welds for less I can get a pre marked weld for free or minimal price by a walk or cycle by....

I just don't want boiled up welds....
Looking like burnt pant pee sand and would need a poison green paint match.

Not down talking just want the lowest cost option under 50.00 for the welding and welds to be the rack only.

Haha, I'd take a my bike to maaco and PISS the boss off for $150.00 lol

"Is that a glob"?!!!

Sued...

Ok.

Bolt your engine onto the rack.

Install a pulley on the crank.

Install another pulley on the rear wheel.

Run a belt, and you're good to go.

Just get free parts from lawn equipment decks.
