First time builder crying for help here with my clutch. I have everything hooked up, the clutch cable is pulling the little arm in, I can feel the resistance of the spring on it, but the clutch won't release to ride the bike normally. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong or may need to look at? The motor is brand new out of the box, hasn't even been test fired yet. (I work odd hours but if you would like me to take some pictures for reference to how i have things hooked I'd be happy to)

Yah I've been looking through that one rite now, I just tried loosening it and it didn't work, so I took the clutch plate clean off and it's still locked up!, I'm assumeing on a properly working clutch the inner disk with the three pronged anchor for the clutch plate is supposed to spin freely from the pads and gear if there's no pressure rite? Why would it still be locked up if the plates not even on?

Have you ensured your clutch cable is installed correctly, it need s to be installed with enough tension so the clutch arm will travel enough distance to compress the inner clutch spring, which in turns pushes your clutch plate out

Dunen,

Not to worry, this is actually common.

From the time the engine is manufactured until the time you recieve it the clutch pressure plate gets stuck to the friction pads.

Remove the clutch cover from the right hand side of the engine. Pull in the clutch lever and use a flat blade screw driver to pop the pressure plate loose. It takes little or no force.

Once you start using the engine this will never happen again unless it sit's for a prolonged period.

By the sounds of it Jim he has taken the clutch plate completely off already
Yeah, I've pretty well been through this engine top to bottom.

Dunen, actually you can just rap the pressure plate with a soft faced hammer, the handle of a screw driver will work, and the pressure plate will release.

There is a light weight spring behind the pressure plate...the plate will pop out once it is freed from the friction pads.

Well I'll be damned, Pulled it apart and gave it a tap and the center now spins freely when the clutch is disengaged thanks a ton mate!
