I just hope people like this bike when they get it.
Nothing worse than 10,000 complaints about ebikes to kill the fun.

That last little 350w conhis geared rear motor I ran didn't like the dirt all that much...at 600w.
Was fine on road and hard pack but the loose stuff and hills was suck.

I would sell that sonders motor and drop a MAC motor in it. Maybe a torque wind.

But then that turns into another $500 with 9FET control and shipping.

i believe people will be very happy. most that ordered have never had an electric bicycle before, they are great fun and will not be looking for a lot of power. just something to make riding a little less work and to assist them when needed

I hear those 8 fun geared motors have pretty good torque. Down side is I heard the gears wear out after a couple of years. I wonder if GM is going to come out with a Fat Pie kit. The Sonder's bike looks pretty good to me I wouldn't mind having one if I didn't have a couple of ebike's already. I bet you cant wait to get your's, Biknut. Shouldnt be much longer eh?

It's getting pretty close now. I think less than 30 more days. I'm hoping my wife will learn to ride it. With it's small motor, and pas it should be pretty easy to ride.

Fun8/bafang sells the nylon gear assembly separately, so a rebuild isn't out of the question, but a more powerful motor would be an attractive option too.

If this bike turns out to be anywhere near as good as I think it is going to be I'm planning to buy 1 or 2 more before the summer is over. I'm hoping the price will stay the same until then.

I've learned over the last year and a half from riding my Bomber that you don't need all the power a Bomber has to have fun. Of course it's nice to have, but you don't need it. Because of it being so overwhelmingly powerful, it's mainly a solitary pleasure, because no one else can keep up with it.

The reason I'm looking forward to this bike so much is to be able to better blend in with the regular bicycle crowd. My Bomber is like the Starship Enterprise riding with Ox carts. The only real difference between riding a Storm, or riding my Bomber is after a long days riding, I won't be able to blast home at super luminal speeds. The rest of the time, it'll be about the same, because I'm usually riding at a speed the Storm would be capable of.

Yeah I imagine some big box retailers will be jumping on the band wagon soon with numbers like that. I was looking at fat bikes on wallmart, com and the kent has some bad revues because people are saying the tires are popping or coming off the rim. The only thing I don't like is the frames are all too small.

Ayup story of my life.. If I want something it's gotta be custom built. Everything they got is too small for me.. can tell without even looking. Lowl's Sitting on my tail bone with my knees pinned against my chest like a cartoon Hyena. Knaw tried that too many. . Not knocking the bike looks nice but would never work for me.

Altho going slow up hill over bumps would be easier on the tail bone and lower lumbar.laff

If I can peddle the bike 40 miles comfortably with no kind of motor ever? Then it's a platform for sure. If it's half breed between both stances it will be one of my hotrodded machines:D

The Storm's are inching ever closer. The factory has apparently finished the first batch of Black bikes with Yellow wheels, and are now assembling the Black bikes with Black wheels.

I'm impressed with the care the factory is taking to protect the finish.

Assembly lines are running. It's supposed to take about 10 more days to finish this batch. Next up will be the Yellow bikes with the Orange anodized wheels. The last batch after that will be Blue with Black wheels.

We got word today from gosondors that the first shipment has docked, and is being unloaded. It's sounds like there's probably about 3 containers of Black bikes with yellow wheels, which means about 750 bikes. As soon as the bikes clear customs UPS will send out tracking info.

Unfortunately I ordered a yellow bike with orange wheels which won't start shipping till early July.

Looks like they might have used the container stretcher, and stuffed a few extra bikes in there.

The first reports have started coming in that funders are now getting emails from UPS with tracking numbers. The first bikes are scheduled to be delivered on Monday July 6th, and Tuesday the 7th.

The invasion has begun. This is one of the first bikes delivered to a lucky dawg in L.A.
