Since I see a few fans of boardtrack style motorize bicycles on here and elsewhere I thought I'd post a link to this 1920's era video I stumbled on of some boardtrack racing action...

Thank you for posting that great old film. Really enjoyed it. Those were the days of iron men and iron bikes. And can you even begin to guess how much wood they used to build a mile long track?

I loved the film. This is my dad's Indian, my aunt Vonda and her boy friend poising on the bike, my dad is in the background playing hourse shoes. That is why I made my china Indain, they were a great bike.

What a great old photo. I'm guessing late 30s, early 40s? Look at those swoopy/curvy fenders. Love it! And I wear a hat everyday like the one the boyfriend has on, no kiddin'.

Back then all men wore hats. My dad and mom rode from our house to Morgantown on the two lanes in less then an hour on that bike that is about 70 miles of curvy two lanes. Sad part, his friend borrowed the bike and was killed out of state, they shipped the bike back in a crate and my dad never opened that crate, it sat in my grand dads barn forever, No one knows what happen to it. My dad said it cost the same price as a new Cadillac when he bought it.

Yea lots of wood for sure...can't imagine the work involved in maintaining something like that! Closest thing I've ever seen to a boardtrack is our local indoor velodrome...Forest City Velodrome.

Wouldn't it be neat to have a small scale, say 1\4 mile, version of an old boardtrack where people could go and race their boardtrack style MB's!

Yes, that would be fun...until you took a fall and had to pull splinters out of your tail. Ouch! Seriously, falling at speed on a wooden track...Wow, wonder what that was like.

I spoke to the previous owners of our locall go-kart track and they said they would welcome MB racing if I got enough riders to make it worth there while. Nobody was intrested, makes more sense to me then to have the Death Race on public streets. Oppss...yes I have said it again, I will get dirty looks at this years rally now.
