Tomos do not have a very good reputation here. Admittedly, this is from the perspective of race tuning. If you just want a low power 50, they're probably ok.

I did know a team who went through 6 engines in a 6hr race once, an average of 18 miles/29k per engine. Mind you, they were as fast as hot Kawasaki AR50s while they lasted.

I wonder if I could find Morini in europe
Fatandre:

Pretty much all of the EU is peppered with mopeds and moped parts. All of the companies like Sachs, Pugeot, Puch, Motobecane, Tomos, Morini, Batavus, Derbi, Polini etc are in the EU, and a heck of a lot closer to you than to us here.

I am sure you should be able to hunt up one of those Franco Morini's close to you.

Many of the units like the Tomos are as bulky as a pit bike engine. Some like the Franco Morini are more compact. Are there no mopeds where you live?

Finally, if you are looking for a small 2 stroke, what about the Sachs ST96?

Good solid little 2 stroke utility engine. Should be a few of those still kicking around on your side of the pond.

There are the Mobylette and Peugeot engines from France to consider, since they were designed for the same job as the Morinis. The Gurtner carburettors need to have all the holes clean, including the hidden ones, this is important if you want them to run right.

What do you think of this Morini. Which one is it?
I can have it for 300 dollars

From the look of the pictures, this engine has been sitting exposed for several years. It will need to be completely rebuilt before it will run. Even if you get lucky and it's not stuck, the carb needs rebuilt and all the seals are probably rock hard. Maybe if he was asking $50 or so....

DeNardis is a clone of the Morini/KTM engine. There are some small differences in clutches and ignition I believe.

So the KTM clone is a clone of the Morini Engine?
What am I not getting here? So Best for me is getting the KTM clone or should I just get into modding a CG

I sent a mail to Denardis as the Morini is not available any more. This is what I got:

Yes we have a replacement engine for the s6-s. Unfortunately we do not have any dealers in Europe as of right now. They cost $599.99 USD plus shipping which will be somewhere around $120.00 USD. I can send you an invoice through Paypal if you would like. Let me know.

Do you know anything about this engine?
It would be a good alternative, but I have also been looking just at CG and thinking about playing with modding.
What do you think?

what about the Denardis engine? Can they also have a variator?
Is it a clone or something. What do you know of those engines?
