Not trying to invoke the wrath of the site managers but for some time I have tried to post pictures on this site from my sources. I managed to get one here a year ago. So assuming it was my low expertise computer wise I got a Photobucket account because of seeing good pictures here. Still cannot place a picture. I know about sizing etc but still will not transfer . I think it must be my browser or the program but can put pictures elsewhere except here. I can get the information to appear on this site but when I hit download it says invalid. I have noticed lots of other people having the same problem and upon reading from various places on the web I believe it is the windows program I have and firefox too. Given up on pictures otherwise good site. I have had people more knowledgeable try also to avail. gphil

When you upload to Photobucket, you preview your picture, then on the side of the window, you'll see a bar with lots of address mumbojumbo.

You're going to look for the line that says IMG Tags for Forums..or something like that. Anyway, they're IMG tags, you just copy that and paste it into your post. However, this forum only allows 5 pictures per post.

I really wish everyone on here would use google photos (Picasa) instead of Photobucket. Photobucket is a massive pain, it doesn't display photos in a large format on this site, and when you click into a photo to enlarge, it takes you to a normal size resolution, then you have to click again (maybe it's several time) to get to original resolution.

With Picasa, you right click on the image and select "copy hyperlink location" or go to Properties and copy url, then just paste that into your thread. Here's an example:

Maybe the same amount of clicks to post a photo, but for the person looking at your thread it makes it easier to view the original image size.

My opinion.

Dunno why you have issues, works fine for what I use it for.

I'm sure if you take photos for a living and share them on forums I can see that being an issue. But for what we use it for, it's not a problem.

Oh yeah, I forgot my main annoyance; Photobucket is slow.

I certainly don't take photos as a profession, I prefer Picasa mainly because it's fast and easy. I can upload photos directly from my phone as I take them, and post them here quickly and easily.

Sorry for the rant, I was just trying to suggest a different way to post pics, since so many folks seem to have problems loading pictures using Photobucket.

Thanks for all the input. Far as slow, don't know about that, just click and it is there. Picasa, did not know it existed but going to look at it and compare. Got to remember fellas, I am at the age that I mainly operated in the late 19th century and probably should not even know how to type on a computer. lol Thanks for the info and by the way , yes you can go to cell phones now on photobucket. Now I can not do that. gphil

I haven't had any problem with posting pics, yet. I resize and rename things before uploading with Paint Shop. Uploading to an album here and then referencing that photo also works well for me. (I'm running on Windows 'Vista', and using Firefox [v24.0])

I sacrificed an Iphone under a full moon and have not had any problems posting pics since.
Coincidence? I wonder...

Which host is preferred is often personal preference and makes little difference provided folks are able to share their work.

No external host will display full resolution pics on this site, we've disabled that with an image maximum to aid load times. The small thumbnail view is often chosen deliberately as to not clutter a thread, the displayed "full sized version" is scaled to 450px × 350px (approximately) by our forum software regardless of the host or source. Clicking any image will display it's original resolution.

We did have quite some difficulty with unresized pictures being posted before we altered the software, folks were posting pics so huge as to distort the display with file sizes so large it was as if we were downloading MP3s. Five per post times as many posts in that thread - you can see how this was becoming an issue.

OKC, OK
The only time that I don't post a 'thumbnail' is when the pict has been added to my album. I figure if someone really wants to see the big pict, it's not an issue to just click on it. Seems like such a short time ago when you couldn't post a pict of any kind --- and if you could, it took minutes to load.

Great technical times we live in!!!
