I should have never sold my bee. I just wanted to go a little faster and paid the price for it. I ordered there new kit they just came out with. Im not selling it this time for more speed 30mph is plenty fast enough. Im not gonna bash the kit but it didn't work out for me. Lesson learned! I cant wait to get back on the road. My old bee is still running. My neighbor rides it to work. I tried getting it back but he did go for that..lol

I seem to remember someone here in the forum touting the bumble bee bolt on as the best thing going, rock solid and indistructable? LOL

I kinda felt the same way about my HT 2-stroke when I first started out, it seemed I had to fiddle with something every ride. In the middle of the first season I finally tossed the chain tensioner in the trash and started running #41 chain with no tensioner, that eliminated one of the biggest offenders. After the first year I ripped the bike apart, installed upgrade studs with locktite then rebuilt the bike making sure to grease and secure everything properly using loctite on all the motor studs and mounts. Last year I rode the entire season without wrenching on anything. Well that's not entirely true, I had to tighten my aftermarket kick stand a couple times cause I didn't use loctite on those nuts, and I dropped the cap off the muffler because I didn't use loctite on the nut that holds the cap on. That's all the wrenching I did the entire season, all ride, no wrench! This year I pulled the carb off in the spring, cleaned it out, then drained the old gas and put some fresh mix in the tank. Bike fired right up and I had a really nice first ride. Hoping for another season of all riding and no wrenching.....
I tried RED loctite on my muffler nuts they still backed out,,the red stuff is only good for like 450F.How,or what brand do you use on the motor studs, exhaust, and all that will hold up to that heat,I may be missing something here?

Thanks

Tom :)

Red loctite is a recipe for stripped threads in aluminum of such questionable quality.
You have been warned.

I only used it on the outside of the studs where the nuts go,,not on the part that threads into the jug but thanks for the warning,,it wont hold up to the heat anyway,if I keep the motor below its top RPM they wont back out,,think i need to look into crank balancing for this one or just ride it slow..lol

So blue loctite is ok for head/jug studs,,I don't see how it holds up to the heat,,nope I don't??

I double nutted a motor that had this problem and it solved it. You might also try nylock nuts. As a last resort, you can make a locking nut by SLIGHTLY crushing a regular nut with visegrips to make it harder to turn. Be careful, it only takes a very small amount and too much will strip the stud instead of threading on.

Well I took it about 6 miles tonight to get my dinner with my backpack,,and it was still tight when I got home.My wife was surprised that the food was still hot as far as I went ...lol..I kept it around 23 MPH,,it does not vibrate much there.

Thanks again for the ideas,,I will try those ASAP,,you have been a great help Mr.Maniac57!!

Ha.. I don't hold mine flat out for the same reason.. although it does sound starved for fuel just on power band.

Man.. these toys are just that.. toys, if you want reliabe go buy a Honda step thru. There was a part of me that never wanted to finish my bikes... I love just tinkering away with it. Keeping them in running condition is all part of the "kit" fun that these bikes are!:-||

Heck yeah,,
It only took me 20 minutes to go get the food and come home ,,that would have been a long hard walk or pedal ride especially up the big hills.Love these kits!!

i DESTROYED 3 seperate wheels with my first engine 8 yrs ago. multiple different reasons.. tensions bracket, spokes, chain, etc .
i didnt quit till the engine itself just wouldnt go anymore.
i kept it, just for the fact of having it. even though it didnt run.
now that i found this forum its up and running agian :) (now i just need to figure out Y its eating cdi's :s )
wheel killer!

jk.

I killed 4, myself.
then I hucked the cns carb....
then I spent all summer dinking the nt carb...
now, it's reliable, if I pay CLOSE attention.

lmao this reminds me of me! last year at this time i started my first build and within a week i had motor mount bolts snap off and the exhaust flew off then countless gas leaks lasted a frustrating 2 months till one day on a ride home the engine just died. i peddled home (swearing all the way) and as soon as i got there i threw the bike against my apartment block dumpster and walked away. now im cooled off after a year now and starting again, this time doing it right. lol you'll be back. its 2 addicting!:-||

My old 2smoker ran for 3000 miles, I would work on her twice a week. She dumped me twice leaving some sweet scars. Abused the crap out of it and hit 33mph gpsed with just some port matching. I now ride a 4 stroke friction. If you don't want to do work that's the setup you want. I do miss always working on the 2stroke.

Friction drive is def. the best way to go. My setup is 2stroke friction drive and i never have any problems. I dont really care for 4stroke engines. They just dont last for me. How many miles you got?

Honolulu, hi
My china girl is like seeing her at a massage parlour, she costs me a couple bucks, is dirty and gets me dirty too. She's dangerous, needs a good drilling or screw deeper and attracts cops, but I ride her everyday because I love her!
