Seat post stuck

Got a pretty sweet bike in a trade, but the guy before me stupidly wedged a spacer into a seat post tube and now I can't get it out. Any ideas?

Use those vice grips to grip higher on the seat post then whack the vice grips with a hammer

Was just talking to my bro about this and I asked him what he did.
He cut the top off the seat tube for enough to grip on about 5cm or a couple inch's, then he used a hacksaw and a sawz all to cut into the metal along the inside length of the pipe, then that would allow the circumference to shrink a bit while twisting with your pipe wrench or vice grips.

(His was aluminum)

And use some liquid wrench or penetrating oil as well if you can.

A little heat applied to the seat tube might help. Not so much as to even burn the paint but enough to swell the tube while twisting and lifting on the seat post.

What do you mean by "wedged a spacer" ? Was the seat post too small for the tube?

What you see in the pic is an aluminum tube with ridges. I tried to get some silicone grease in between the seat tube and that aluminum tub then gripping it with a clamp and then hitting it with a hammer from the bottom. Tried heating it as well. It's in a good 5-6 inches and is just not budging.

Tack weld a bar to the seatpost and whale it out with a big hammer.

Yes, that thing is wedged pretty good. I banged it for a good half hour then gave up after realizing it isn't budging

All ya gotta do is be smarter than the seat post. If you can't guess you gotta trash the bike...

I had to do something similar to pull a tight post out, but the hole I used was built into it for the seat bolt. With a screwdriver with a thick shaft through the hole I sat on the carrier rack and turned back and forth while pulling up on the post.

That will work too. Don't drill too big or you might rip the tube in half. do it as high on the post as possible so you can get a really good swing. Use penetrating oil and even a bit of heat if needed, but a good hammer should do it.

Way too small a rod. Try using an old socket extention. Much less likely to bend. Wear safety glasses though, it could possibly shatter.
I could get it with 5min and a welder...

i tried that as well Toadmund, that thing will not rotate nor budge, measured it again and its about 7" insite the tube with less than 2" sticking out. im probably gonna end up cutting it off and getting someone to weld a mount for a BTR type seat set up

Spray some WD 40 on it overnight let it sit
then clamp it with vice grips very very tightly, lay the bike down and then shift the tube side to side as you're turning it

There is another thread that is the same topic and the way TM mentions is the way it was solved.

I think if you can slice the tube as said and keep short of the frame, prying inward the remains to shrink away from the inside of the frame where the seat post is stuck, that is what I think was done.

Anyone know that other post?

A hack saw blade would slice the post. It would take some work and caution but it would do the trick. I'd tape the saw blade to protect your hand and just saw vertically down the inside of the post.
After it is split most of the way you should be able to wedge something like a slender screw driver down inside and compress it away from the tube wall.
