I was in the garage brainstorming (seems like I do my best thinking in the garage...lol)
My 9 yr old daughter has outgrown her 20" BMX bike. Awhile ago, I bought her a new 24" MTB which was too big...but not anymore.
Since my kids & I have been having so much fun riding around our community on the Razor E325 that I converted to gas (there is a build thread), I started searching for another gas scooter both new & used. I found a nice EVO Powerboard on CL but the seller was too flaky & wouldn't answer texts or emails so I gave up on that one.
For less money, I could just build one myself with stuff I got laying around.
I got a few ideas online looking at both kickbikes & adult push scooters.
The 1st few pics are of a Sherpa Evo. A DH standup scooter & the inspiration for this new project.
I'm thinking of either using the 12" wheels I already got, but the rims are steel & the bearings are junk (although I have repacked them with grease). I also retrued them & added a nice new Kenda tire.
I might get some 10" Goped wheels but I'm trying to build this without buying hardly anything.
The seat/seatpost & crankarms/pedals will be removed & I'll probably end up doing a rear friction drive since I already have 2 driver units & 1.25" rollers. I'll just need to fab a floorboard to stand on out of aluminum or wood (or an aluminum/wood combo) & use the bottom bracket area as one of the mounting points for strength.
To get my arms/hands higher up & in the correct position, I'll need to buy a BMX stem & BMX upright handlebars with the cross brace.
See the pics & tell me what you all think.
