A buddy of mine has a tecumseh engine he might give me, but whether I want to use it is based on the rpm. i have googled with no joy. the engine number is wtpxs.0494ea. if anyone can just tell me the rpm of this particular engine, that would be greatly appreciated. I already know its a 49cc two stroke.

I dont think its a TC300 or TMO49. WTPXS is the engine family, and 0494EA is the model number. 143.992070 8351G I'm guessing is the serial number.
WTPXS points to Tecumseh TC300/TM049 in my research. The difference between those engines, both vertical shaft by the way, is that the TM can be run in any position.
If you doubt my research, by all means, do your own. And you're welcome.
I did some research, but couldnt find much. And sorry to say, but you are looking in the wrong direction. I looked at the engine my buddy has, and it has a horizontal shaft, not a vertical one.

the engine is at my buddy's house, and I dont have a way down there till probably next month. I only get over there every once in awhile. Its a tecumseh, 2 stroke, 49cc, horizontal shaft, engine family wtpxs. I didnt mean to say that you are looking in the wrong direction, what I meant to say was that tc300 and tmo49 are different engines than the wtpxs family. wtpxs engines were used in tillers and ice augers, among other things. Not trying to sound argumentative or contradictory, I would expect an ice auger to put out more than 6k rpm. just my way of thinking.
