clutch intermittantly ingages with lever pulled in????

I would try what Misteright says and adjust the clutch
A) Disengage clutch by pulling handle bar clutch lever inward and lock into catch lock.
B) Remove right side engine clutch cover and remove small locking screw on center *Clutch Adjust Nut.
C) Pull clutch arm on left rear engine inward. Back off *Clutch Adjust Nut ¼ turn counterclockwise.
D) Release clutch lever and check for slight clutch arm 1/16” free-play on opposite side of engine. Readjust *Clutch Adjust Nut as required to get required 1/6” clutch arm free play.
E) Tighten *Clutch Adjust Nut on clutch plate clockwise until just snug.
F) Then re-install small locking screw in outer edge of *Clutch Adjust Nut.
G) Good idea to place a small gob of grease at gear mesh area. Use grease sparingly! Then replace cover.
H) Squirt light grade oil down clutch cable sheathing to reduce friction and make for easy lever pull.

When it has this problem is it after you have been going for a while with it in freewheel? I don't know about messing with the daisy nut, that is most for adding spring tension to the clutch. The clutch is just a bunch of small rubber pads installed in little holes in the clutch driven, I am thinking that one of the little buggers is getting sideways and touching the clutch drive. I like the early clutch handle the one they call the Russian one. It lifts the clutch the best, I like the way it works without having to push in the button. Look at the tear down an see what you think. The only other thing I can think of that would dive the bike with the clutch out would be the race of bearings that carry the large gear when disengaged, somehow they are binding. If you said it was all the time I would agree that the clutch is not lifting enough. Have fun, Dave
you were right thats what is happening. a couple of them look like they were twisting around in there. thanks for all the suggestions guys.
Did it only do it when the motor was warm and you'd been riding for a while?
My clutch is great when cold, but after 15 min of riding it'll start grabbing when I have the lever locked. I wonder if this is the same issue. Last time I had the clutch off those pads seemed ok though....
