So i found a bike that im gonna use to make a cafe racer. its a 26 inch huffy v frame . i want to take it apart paint it black or matte black (its red right now). i want to get a triple tree fork for it i was thinking that maybe i could find a used schwinn stingray chopper fork and paint it black [would that be able to be installed on my bike] (does any one have one that i could buy ???) . I saw a gas tank that mounted to the front on the forks that i liked but i cant find the thread. I also was thinking if i got the schwinn fork i could use the dragster bar on it ... i wonder how that would look also i want to get a tuned pipe and maybe disc brakes but not till later. i dont have much time to do this build as im in college... but i cant take it any more not doing a build... i also have a "army" bike thats also waiting to be finished but i want to put a 4 stroke on that one and i dont have that much money so i figured i could do a 2 stroke cafe racer build instead. Can anyone help me find the parts i need ???

Decals can sometimes be removed with the heat of a hair dryer. You can use
Goo-Be-Gone or automotive bug remover to clean off the glue. Try that before a blade or wire brush.

Well this afternoon i found out my dad has a paint stripper gun so i used that instead of a blow-dryer to take the stickers off. although i got the plastic part off i cant get the stinking goup off. i tried "goof off" but i cant get the goey junk off. any ideas? i also painted my front rim. red spokes with a flat black rim.

BTW, to what extent are you going to make a cafe racer out of a mountain bike? I am curious, there are different ways and extents to go about it and I am curious as to your plans.

low handle bars, banana seat, expansion chamber, all that jazz. i would like to buy new forks but im not sure if i want a springer or a triple tree? which would look better? and i definitely want to get a special gas tank (not the stock one) and right now i think nobby tires are ok but i might later on get some cruiser or bricks...

For this frame I would definitely go with a springer forks, triple tree would look too bulky and an overkill for this bike. The springer has that vintage look that would mesh well with the cafe racer look you're trying to achieve IMO. Good luck on your build and keep those pics coming. :)

Pat doesn't redo Monark forks anymore. He,s redoing Abraham linkage forks you send him.

Venice Motor Bikes has rewelded Monark forms on their site, too.

So this week i stripped and painted the bike including the rims. Thursday i painted the bike frame and Friday i finished painting the rims i cant wait to get the pics up, the bike looks great. colors are flat black and i decided to paint the spokes red. i also scrubbed my tires clean. now i want to get a new seat and handle bar. im definitely going banana seat, but the handle bars and the seat that i like are both out of stock!
