I've run out of gas twice. Once when I was about 2-3 miles from home after a long joy ride that started with less than half a tank (foolish, I know) and the second time was similar to Dirt's experience. I pulled into my neighborhood, crested the one hill, ran out of fuel, and was literally able to pull in the clutch and coast down to my house.

off topic a little but, castor beans also make ricin.
ricin can be made by the waste of castor oil production.
the amount equivalent as 2 grains of salt will kill.

When I raced 100cc & 125cc air cooled 2 stroke flat track bikes in the late 60's, most other riders used pure castor, I used Klotz Super TechniPlate, which is their synthetic oil mixed with 20% degummed castor oil. I did not have half the problems other’s did with gumming up their engines, my one 100cc rotary valve Suzuki that only had a single ring just .040" thick, 1mm for you metric folks, never had a problem, ran two maybe three races before tear down. Klotz makes Great oils I'm using R-50 in my 49cc Zoom engine and 66cc Grubee mixed 25:1 break in and 32:1 after and it SMELLS Good. Think I’ll pick up a pint of Super TechniPlate next time I go down state to try out in my 66cc and see how it works. I did pick up an oil safe empty 2oz plastic liquid bottle from my druggist to use for those emergencies, thanks for the great suggestion.

Forensic scientists don't like it to get out (so here I am blabbing on an open forum, d'oh!) but it also happens to be one of the few mostly untraceable ways to poison somebody. There's conflicting information about this but I have a Brigadier General friend who mentioned it to me because he knew assassins who'd use it for that reason; because it was hard to prove the mark had been poisoned, let alone who'd done it. Ricin exits the body in the fecal matter, leaving hardly a trace amount behind, after having caused internal bleeding.
BUT - use too much, and your mark will void it all, becoming wretchedly ill. Use too little - and the mark may not even notice. Tricky stuff.

BTW: watch those "three bean" salads, ;)

no worries. i thought it was general knowledge about ricin since georgi markov got poisoned by being stuck by a loaded umbrella back in the late 70's.

it is also it is also in the story line of this seasons "breaking bad".

Castor beans are illegal to import and/or possess in the USA just because of the potential to extract ricin. Ricin is classified as a schedule 1 drug-same schedule as heroin.
