Hello everyone, I've only just discovered this forum. I've always liked bicycles and bicycling, I use an electric assisted tricycle as my 'car' and I'm hoping to be able to build my very first motorised bicycle very soon.

I have always liked your trike. It appears you have refined it a bit since last I saw photos of it. Not much of an electric guy myself but was wondering does your hub motor only drive the right wheel or is it connected to the other side by an axle or independent drive shaft?

The hub motor just drives the right rear wheel and the pedals drive the left rear wheel. I know that sounds a wee bit odd, but in practice it actually works out really well.
Yes my tricycle is in a constant state of being refined and improved as I strive to make it a more perfect vehicle to fullfil my local transport needs. I should really take some more photos, but it's Winter here at the moment and my tricycle could do with a seriously good clean and polish before I wave a camera at it.

I like it a lot too.
A lot of my elderly bicycles have rod brakes and I've never had any problems with them. The trick is in knowing how to set them up properly. I don't know how often I've read comments about rod brakes being no good, but most of the problem lies in folk not bothering to maintain them properly.
