ok, so here we are with another build of mine after more sheared bolts.

Here i have an engine from Rock Solid, the only real performance engine seller of these kits.

I was absolutety astonished with the engine i received, allthe bolts had been replaced even the head bolts/nuts were great, right down to he magneto itself inside the cover was held in place by grade 12 allen key bolts.

So, with many a sheared bolt i had set my sights on a new way to mount the engine and here it is.

:) the bike is about 75% built and hopefully it will be done in time for my afternoon class tomorrow.

I do have a question though. Removal of the magnet, or in particular the screw that holds it on, how do we do that as i have a pull start i would like to use.

As for the magnet nut, on my old motor i jammed something between the magnet and the magnito frame like a screwdriver. Im sure theres a propper way to get it off,i just dont know it.

yah, the downtube bracket/plate is actua;;y a pice cut off from bunning's scaffolding that they use in the store :P

took about 30mins to cut through it with a hack saw... bloody dense !@#$ that stuff

also i left the fold there ( above the engine mount point ) as to give it horizontal strength on the top end of the plate, also helps in not letting the engine flex from side to side

yah, just need to get that nut off so i can get the pull start installed as kicking over the engine by foot is not a good idea with a shift kit... i sheared 2 bolts in one go by doing that on my first ride at a set of lights i had the idle a bit low

Dude grab flat headed screwdriver in ya left hand and a ring spanner in the other, the Magnet sorts looks liike the batman symble yeh, poke the screwdriver (vertical) in through the front left of the crank NOT THE SIDES.
when you turn the spanner it will all lock up and she should wind off.
 
ok, went for test ride today, went about 25km from home and chain broke aswell as a nut came off my front mount bracket and the allen bolt in the middle collar of the shift kit's drive shaft came out somewhere along the way.

replace nut > check

fix wide open throttle proglem > check

fix high idle > half a check, still a bit high.

replace allen bolt in collar > to do

replace broken chain link > to do
 
Be careful trying to remove the magneto magnet. The crankshaft is only about 5/16" diameter at that point and it will bend easily if too much lateral force is applied. Use two large flat blade screwdrivers and 'wiggle the magnet off the shaft. Don't get heavy handed or you'll be replacing the crankshaft. There is a crankcase seal behind the magnet; don't damage it.

Thankyou 2door for the tip,

however.

I didn't want to remove the magnet, just the bolt that holds the magnet on so i can attach a piece of the pull start into it's needed location.

I'll attach the pull start during the week and take pictures to show what i mean. .we.

Last night i put on my performance carby fromt he dir bike shop and man did it make a difference, it's idle will pull me to 25km/h in 6th gear, and will do it uphill in 5th

it will pull me uphill in 7th gear fine with 1/4 throttle @ 20mph/35kmh

i won't be using 8th as the chains are way too close together for my liking. Instead my plan is to get a road racing rear cassette put on the wheel so i have very small cogs on the rear wheel so i won't even have to use 6th gear to keep up with traffic, i'm just paranoid about the chains clipping eachother @ high speeds
