Squirt DRAMA!!!! Where's my popcorn. Why have ebikes with unlimited? Is it because the winner at the Death Race won with an ebike? Race what you have and combine everybody! How about a rolling start? The front straight looks long enough to do it.
Absolutely nothing to do with the Death race.
I have not had time to define the classes yet......

All eBikes are going to race against themselves in the first race so they
can re charge their batteries before they race against the gas bikes.

They will also have to race the same number of heats and laps as gas
bikes.
eBikes will not be getting special treatment like they got at Willow Springs.

However Jim the track owner said he would provide a 5000 kw
generator for the eBike guys.

We will be having more track hours even though the daylight hours on
Sat Oct 22nd will be less so there is time for an eBike class no matter
how few show up.
How the eBikes work out on the Oct 22nd race will determine their future track
time, etc.

Track hours could start at 7am and go all the way to sunset at around 6pm
7am to 6pm would be 2 more track hours than we had at Willow Springs.

The eBikes included in the new "Unlimited Class" would be
eMotorcycles like the one liveforphysics #100 built that really
don't fit with the other regular 8 eBikes that showed at Willow springs.
If the ebikers don't mind it could run in their class but guys like
liveforphysics ONLY want to race the gas bikes.

Get it now?
I got months to decide on rolling starts and other details.

I am trying to establish some basic guidelines so everyone can
upgrade their bikes or make new bikes.

Why is this such a big issue? Lets put on another successful event and see what happens.

Let BiMoPed make the rules and just support them.
We're just here to support the sport & have fun.

I have some ideas for the races. Not to change anything rules but a race format that will help make your scoring easier. I'll email you BiMoPed.

New rule: You are disqualified if you are not having fun. :)
Thanks, I really like that, too funny.......

Everybody must have fun!
You meet the funnest people on a Motorized Bike!

I just talked to Jim the track owner and we are on his schedule
for Saturday October 22nd.

I am going to have to get a new calendar so I can mark
the countdown days on it.
I screwed mine up with the countdown days from the Sept date.

Here is a toast to the newest Motorsport in California, Motorized
Bicycle Racing.

Thanks Easy Rider
Scoring was the biggest problem at the Willow Springs Race.
I will not be begging for scorers at this next race.

It was supposed to be a working race with racers helping out but
most of the scorers were just there to cruise around and ended
up scoring on most of the races and heats.

There are two ways to go;
1) Raise the entry fee and use the money to hire professional scorers
or transponders.

2) Make it a working race and assign scoring duties on all serious racers
when they sign up so they will score, flag etc when they aren't racing on
at least one race or heat.

If you don't want to score, flag or do other tasks then you can't race.
I guess it would be OK if a racer provided their friend, wife, girlfriend etc
as long as the scoring position was covered.

Please send me your race format ASAP. I need some help with that.
Thanks

living the dream in southern california
my post wasn't meant as criticism, but i felt it necessary to define some actual "rules," and to post scenarios that don't exactly fit into the standard "this is a motorized bicycle" format.

more and more people are taking this seriously (and still having fun:)) with purpose-built race bikes, and will continue to do so as the competition level increases. i know i'm already thinking up plans for a completely different bike which will push the boundaries on the standard, modified beach cruiser, but i don't want to be punished, penalized, or stifled by not conforming to a set of vague, undeclared rules.

i totally understand this is a new "sport," and we're all playing it by ear and making it up as we go along, and the purpose of my posts are to offer ideas, and to gain feedback from other racers, riders, cruisers, and whoever else wants to chime in with their opinions, and i think the forum is the perfect place for it.

i could start my own thread, but since this one isn't a detailed, definitive post outlining the next race, i figured it's the right place for it.

if i'm wrong, whatevs. i ain't out to cause a controversy, just stirring the pot a little.

in the end, it'll all be settled at the track.

(and whatever anyone thinks, i'm totally into it for the fun. i wouldn't have spent so much time sliding across willow on my forearm if i wasn't. i woulda licked my wounds, cried, and packed up my bike and gone home instead of jumping right back on with a big smile on my face...)

The number 1 rule for Motorized Bicycle Racing is "Have Fun"

The classes for the next race on Sat Oct 22nd
and the order they will be racing in except for (7)
which will have track time at the beginning, middle and end of day.

1) eBike
definitions to be announced later.

2) 4 Stroke
Any other small 4 strokes.
Robin Subaru 25cc and Honda GX 25 cc
Robin Subaru 35cc and Honda GX 35 cc
Honda 49 cc GXH and Huasheng 49 cc clone
Harbor Freight 79 cc
Whizzer 136 cc

No limits on motor modifications, Shifter kits are ok,
No real motorcycle tires allowed. Bicycle tires only.

3) 2 Stroke
49 cc to 66 cc Chinese bicycle motors.

No limits on motor modifications, Shifter kits are ok,
No real motorcycle tires allowed. Bicycle tires only.

4) Gas Bikes <11 hp
Includes Morini, Briggs & Stratton, 6.5 hp HF, etc
When there are enough Morini's and B & S, etc this class
may split it into 2 classes.
Not enough entries for 2 classes yet so you will be racing
together on the track with another class.

No real motorcycle tires allowed. Bicycle tires only.

5) UNLIMITED Gas OR eBike
Includes any motorized bicycles that are over 12 hp and don't
fit in any the other classes but still meet a few basic common sense rules.

6) Top finishers from the 4 classes will race against each other.
Obviously UNLIMITED Gas OR eBike will NOT be included.

7) Non racers, track cruisers who want to putt around
and just have fun.

I will add all the class details soon.
The Gas Bikes < 11 hp was called "Unlimited Gas & eBike" at the
first Willow Springs race.

The new UNLIMITED Gas / eBike class will have a few rules and will
include bikes like AGK's #81 20 hp HF motor and the #100 eMotorcycle.

Don't know how many bikes will be in this category.
You have about 4 months to make one and the number of entries will
determine the track time and the future of this new class.

I would appreciate input and feedback by phone only.
most of you have my phone # or email me yours.

Hashing out the details of a new Motorsport on a forum is
probably not a good idea or very productive.

i guess im going to have to look for a 10 hp Briggs.....or turbo the 8 hp
Get some of your Briggs buddies to come and race so you guys
can have your own class with the other 4 strokes.

You get to race against all the other 3 classes at the end of the day.

Winning races isn't all about hp as was proven at Willow Springs.
Ride better? Better brakes? Lose a few pounds? LOL

You could easily beat the 50 cc and 79 cc small 4 strokes with your
6 hp against their 3 hp or less but now you got some faster competition
so you should be happy.

I don't think you were wearing knee or elbow pads at Willow Springs?
I could be wrong but at this upcoming race they will be mandatory.

I see now the Briggs have 8 hp wow... Bi Moped you better get your hp numbers together and post the right hp for these motors...no more bs.... Lol
You don't read good like a lot of people here. The Briggs were
6 hp at Willow Springs and he just said that he is going to juice it up
to 8 hp or 10 hp to compete with cheaters like you. LOL

LOL As long as the Briggs bikes and your monsta 6.5 hp HF is
11.999999 hp or less I really don't care.......

You don't want me pulling your motor apart at the track to check
your hp! LOL
Or I was going to institute some kind of $100 motor claiming rule for
guys like you!!! LOL That would be a lot of fun!
Take your pick!
You rules fanatics better be careful about what you wish for.......

What was the deal with jumping into the little 4 stroke class at
Willow Springs? LOL All in good fun it was great seeing you 4 strokes
blitz around the track.

hey gimme a call please.

IMHO, GXH50/HS142F/F-CC/Titans should be in their own class. There is very little hop-up parts for them and they simply do not compare even to the HF 2.5. Of course, there has to be enough of them at the track for them to have their own class, but anyone who's going to bring one to race in a serious manner is going to find themselves outgunned against other motors.

TAKE A JOKE!!!

msrfan and my Briggs Bikes were 5hp machines with very little work done to the motor....

we won because combined we have 40+ years of experience, building, riding, and customizing these machines

my grandfathers bike was hooking up WAY better then mine was and had atleast 1 more hp (or so it felt) and i weigh 80lbs more then he does....and yet i still beat him....

this is our hobby and we came to the races to show what our bikes can do, we had a lot of fun..my hats off to neil and magrider for putting on a great event

once again this is one of my many hobbies...lets keep this fun

neil: put us in whatever class you feel is far...we will still come out to win and have fun
even if i have to turbo an 8hp....lol

Wow, I don't feel bad at all coming in 4th place (in the trophy dash) from dead last at the start and only having 4hp on a bone stock Kawi FE 120cc machine that was twice as heavy and nearly twice as long being a tandem and all. Wait till ya see what's instore for future races.....no need to light a fire under my butt, I eat jalapenos for breakfast. Soon I'll be eatin Brigg's burritos for lunch.....hahahahaha ;)
