living the dream in southern california
i woulda volunteered as a corner worker or scorer or whatever, but i spent most of my time either lying down on the track or fixing what broke. i missed the first heat 'cause i was scrounging up a wheel and rebuilding my coaster brake, bending my cranks back, stealing pedals, and wiping the blood off my arm...;)

i'll be ready for this race. might even bring a spare bike (or two...)

what do you think of qualifying laps before all the racing starts? that way the races can be some what equal?

say, before races start (taking most will be there on time) take one warm up lap, then second lap will be timed. all racers with close times within a fair margin would be in one group and same with the 4 strokes, etc if there is more than one person taking times per class, im sure it wouldnt take long, everyone would just be lined up and ready to go, qualify, then get off the track to let the others do the same. for those that come late, they can always take a quick lap to qualify and be placed into a group etc no problem

then once everyone has qualified, the time it will take to sort everyones times out, the track can be open to cruise as free time. then once everyones times are sorted into a group, numbers will be announced and racing can begin??? i will be more than happy to volunteer for taking down qualifying info. I think it would be more organized and easier when the real heats take place so the score keepers wont lose track when the faster racers start lapping the slower racers.

I think it will also give those that run slower bikes to actually get a chance to win something that can help them upgrade their bikes with something that they might honestly not have.

Are you going to set up a "on-line" sign up through piston bikes like last time?
Rob and Greg of Piston Bikes were the first ones I called to see if
the date was good for them.

Piston Bikes is going to be helping out again and yes I imagine that
we will be doing the entry payment and sign up on their website.

It worked really well, does anyone else have any feedback on this?

Probably will do a local OC ride and collect cash to pay the track deposit
like we did last time as well.

I will be pre registering numbers and taking payment much earlier this time.

Going to keep the entry fee at the same low $25 for all who pre register.
If you pay on the day it will be $35

$25 is the minimum entry fee. If you can afford more please support
the event by paying what it is worth to you.
There is nowhere you can get out on a racetrack in SoCal for such a
deal.
Any other kind of racing would cost you double to triple that amount
at the very least.
Thanks to all of you that kicked in extra for the Willow Springs race.
If you had not have done it I would not be organizing this new event.

thanks Strotter for all your help on the last race. i know that you and
your boys had fun. Hope that your kid wasn't too banged up from his crash.

I want more father and son/daughter teams at the next Motorized Bike event.
There were a few at the last race including one father and daughter team.

I know the daughter is hooked and asking how to make the Whizzer faster and wants to learn how to maintain and repair it herself. I think shes hinting that I should give it to her..... We'll see about that. Any way we will both be there, thinking about building something small enough for Mama to take on the trackr.ly..

I screwed up on the weather at the new track.
Didn't really check it properly.

September 24th is going to be too hot to be fun.
Looks like October or even November to be cool enough.
Really don't want the temperature to be over 80 and
preferably around 70.

Will do some more research to figure it out.
Sorry about the false alarm, i is a idiotz.........

Moving the date would be nice. I left the Willow Springs event at 10:30am because it got a bit too warm for comfort. At least for me, anyway.

That track looks awesome. it was 115 here today and will be for the next 90 days so mid 90s will be a welcome relief. At that elevatation and time of year shouldn't be any hotter than willow was.Lets do it
