wont start and keeps "popping"

was riding my bike this morning to work. after about three miles the mph went lower and lower. suddenly i was only able to go about 10mph until it finally the engine just quit on me. not sure whats going on. when i start peddling and release the clutch there is a popping noise like a small backfire from the igsaust pipe. ive never had this problem before so i dont know where to start to get it up and running again. where should i start and what would cause this kind of problem? thanks guys:-||
 
Start with the basics.
Do you have proper spark? Is your plug fouled?

Do you have fuel? Does it flow freely?

Do you have compression? Is your head torqued properly?
 
well, so much for cleaning the sparkplug. i have spark and it ran good for all of three minutes. now there just isnt power... ill trying replacing the spark plug i guess.
 
I think its your intake "manifold"gasket . Mine did the same thing and it was because there was a pretty decent leak there. Use some rtv sealant or some gasket paper you can get from any auto parts place. It'll run like a top
