I found a homelite wacker in my garage, still workin on gettin it running but cut to the chase, I have a shaft with a square hole, what do other homelite users to to their square holes?

Take the spark plug out shove a rope in the plug hole to temp freeze the piston. leave some of the rope sticking out so that you cant remove it after you are finished.

some of the really old homelites you can't take the square adapter off. If it's not an antique though you should be able to take it off. Check out the site in my signature to see what I did after that.
PS. Welcome to the forum.

I would think some keystock with the other end potted into a shaft with silversolder and stabilized with a bearing plate mounted to the motor would work for you.. Maybe you could cheap off and pot it in JB Weld and put a couple holes in the shaft to keep it from spinning.

everytime I see this thread I want to say well not the round peg for sure.... There i did it

I tried several different things and they all kept breaking off. I ended up drilling out the hole and using a grade 8 bolt and have had no problems since.
