What carb for B&S 3.5hp?

So I have a Briggs & Stratton 3.5hp motor with a carb attached to the tank below. There is a tube that goes straight down from the carb into the tank. This is the carb:

Can I use this carb with a frame-mounted gas tank above the motor? if not, what kind of carb would I need to get?

edit: here is the bike as it sits now. The tank will be going up on the top tube.

The carb You have can only be used with the stock tank,so I would say You should find a small motorcycle carb and fab up a manifold to fit....Tigmaster....

I have had great results on these engines using a Honda minibike carb. The smaller 50cc bikes make the best donors. You will need to fab a manifold to use the bike carb. Much better throttle response and overall power. Classic old school gokart hot rodding trick.

If you've got a couple bucks, the little NT carburetor's that come with the china 2 stroke kits work amazingly on 3hp briggs' all you need for a manifold is to get a piece of 16 gauge 3/4 inch tubing. Fits rite in the back of the carb

Actually, on the vertical shaft Briggs engines you find on newer mowers have what you need. They have a manifold with a 90 degree bend that will make the carburetor inlet face the front (pull start side) of the engine and the carburetor should on that should work as well. You may just have to adjust it some because when I tried it I couldn't take the choke off, but then again it had been sitting for a couple years. Check local mower shops to see if they have a graveyard you could wander through. The manifold looks like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRIGGS-AND-...OW-212488-210705-NLA-/160993037404#vi-content

and the carb is like this: http://www.mfgsupply.com/22-14111-b...rce=googleps&gclid=COzkppnVk7YCFQrNnAodCQMAvA

This is a great cheaper alternative to a japanese carb. The briggs style carbs are designed to run at one steady rpm, you get much better useable power with a motorcycle style carb than one designed for a cement mixer...
