what are your best theft prevention methods?

I suppose I should add one last thing. When using a tracking chip to locate your property call the police to recover the stolen bike once you've located. Under no circumstances try to do this by yourself.

If a cellphone notifier alerts you or you hear your alarm take some one with you to investigate. At the minimum be armed with a means of defending yourself. Thieves can become violent when being caught in the act.

Here in South East Wisconsin with all the Lutherans and Catholics you can park a Harley un-chained, with a for sale sign on it, next to the road where I live and it will not move until paid for.
That said, those GPS trackers which have been mentioned in similar threads are worth a look.
