forgive me if this is stupid but im not exactly sure of what each part on the bike will do. Like what does the jackshaft do? and am I supposed to keep the gears my bike already has if I have the jackshaft? also I started taking apart the bike to get started. I took off both wheels and I ordered a new set of wheels but im not sure how to take off the brakes as I wanna replace both of them. actually because I want a v brake in the back i might not need to replace the one in the back i think? not sure. heres my plan so far

1. take off almost everything from the frame, wheels, shifter, derailleur, grips, gears, pedals, brakes
2. replace the wheels with ones with much thicker spokes and heavy duty tires and such, also replace the front fork with a suspension
3. replace the front brake with the disc brake ive chosen and replace the brake pads of the rear brake
4. prep the engine, take off the stock muffler and air filter and replace them with lower profile parts, also get a new gas tank and move it to the top (already done except the tank is on the way, ive checked and the engine fits in the frame)
5. order the engine mount and transmission, then mount the engine
6. ehhhhh? this is where im unsure of what to do

kind of threw myself into this project so all advice is very much appreciated

The jackshaft gives you another reduction point so that you don't have to install a huge rear sprocket and it allows you to use the entire range of your CVT.

also, i took off the shifters because Im pretty sure they were broken do you have a recommendation for a new one
These are the components I use on my bicycle's 3x7 drive system. Sram X4 rear derailleur, Sram X3 rear shifter, Sunrace 405 bake/3 speed shifter, and a Soonhua front derailleur. I have both trigger shifters on the left handlebar. It's a color coded 9 ratio sequential shifting system. An added bonus is the system prevents cross chaining.

been loosely using this guide but because its not exactly what im doing im not sure about it. guide
its a pretty good suide, just dont do the extra stuff that he did, like the wheels and engine internal mods, idkw if you claculated but ur build is a 1750 dollars, thats a lot js

ah nvm then, id still go fr the cvt
The purpose of the left side jackshaft is to provide another reduction point so that a huge rear sprocket won't be needed in order to provide the full reduction range of the CVT.

The CVT range is 3\1~1\1. With a stock Predator 79 engine to go 35 mph at full throttle on level ground using 26" wheels the total reduction needs to be around 8\1. In order to get that without the jackshaft reduction point you'd have to use a 10t/80t. I think a 9t might fit on the CVT with that a 72t rear sprocket would be needed. Then the reduction range would be 24\1~8\1.
