To reed or not to reed....¿¿

OK so here's the question, what is the longevity of a bicycle engine, with a reed valve vs no reed....
Terms like...

(Reed vs no reed)

Longevity
Ride time (I ride mine constantly no problems)
Engine-shake
Engine-noise
Reed valve life metal vs carbon fiber
Fuel consumption
Hill climbing power
Max speed

If everyone can help me please :)

Well reeds add some more parts but I guess you can gain a little performance from them. Unless I needed every ounce of performance I would just stick with the piston port.

The piston skirt uncovers the intake port to allow the fuel air mixture into the crankcase and closes it to force the mixture into the combustion chamber.

I have the Keihlin clone and reed valve setup, I like it , I would think that over long term it would reduce issues with the carb

If you need a thousand miles out of one of these just leave it stock and don’t thrash it.

sooo do u know if this build would run without a reed?

I suggest you just go to ebay and buy one of the $95 kits and put it on your bike and see what you learn and if it suits you. Hard to go wrong for 95 delivered.
