Tips on quieting the muffler?

my old banshee with clamp on K&N's had quite a throaty sound from under the seat. Intake noise on 2 strokes can be the "silent stalker"

personally i like the bellow from an intake.

Fascinating thread and some great thoughts. The intake noise never occurred to me. Gonna try making an intake muffler of some sort.

A few yrs back I tried the cutting up radiator hose and shoving lil folded squares between the cooling fins. Can't for the life of me remember if it helped. That engine imploded soon after. (nope, did not over heat. key broke)

Rubber pieces between the fins will also reduce noise, as will covering or somehow dampening the side cover.
