and you have no marks on inside of cover?

There are marks on the inside, but they have been there for a couple years. I fixed that problem by bending the plate back to the original profile after wrongly bending it out. It hasn't been grinding on the cover lately

well, I'm thinking the rod and flower nut are better than the usual chinese 4.8 steel - I have to think there is something wrong that is causing the problem, and I certainly wouldn't replace them again without finding what it is
