The 6v White Wire Question

I have a 12v motorcycle battery to run my headlight, tail light and turn signals. Would it work to hook up the white wire to the battery to help with charging? I know that normally a 6v system has higher amperage than a 12v system but I have no idea what amperage the 6v white wire produces.

It's roughly 0.5 amps, being 6v 3 watts. It can and will spike higher depending on RPM but if you draw too much power your motor may fail to spark. There's lots and lots of posts about all this if you search, and there's bolt-in 6v and 12v regulators on eBay for your motor if you look around.

Since the magneto's output is AC, you could run it thru a voltage doubler circuit and get closer to the battery's voltage.

Hmm, that is an idea. But I forgot all about that thing taking spark away from the spark plug. Maybe I better leave it alone and just use a battery charger at night.
