Surly Singulator to replace tensioner?

I searched several threads on the site and didn't see this discussed anywhere. Has anyone adapted a Surly Singulator in place of the kit-type chain tensioner? Looks like one could weld on a mount tab and bolt it up. Here's an Ebay knock-off for half the price:

Same concept as a V brake arm. Only you are using one arm.

They have had great success with something similar. I say it will work if done right.

Yeah, I'm curious too in how it works. I know it takes a single bolt to mount it, but where is the spring and the resistance to get it to work?
