Hello every one, I had decided to tighten my squish clearance about as tight as I could safely go. My engine started with a horrible 0.085 or more. The piston clearly sat down in the hole. So I decked it until I thought it looked right. With the solder method it measures 0.030 maybe slightly less. Doing this absolutely made the engine have a cleaner more efficient burn. As indicated on the piston, theres almost no burning going on in the squish band. It's all happening in the chamber. It's clear on the head(DONSP1986 5.5CC) that nearly everything is burning in the chamber, theres only char on the exhaust side of the head because that's the direction it went. New jugs being as cheap as they are, why not? I love pushing these little engines. I'm modifying for efficiency as far as burn, power can come with these mods, but that's not my why.
