Sudden loss of compression in a brand new engine

hey everybody,
I purchased a brand new 2 stroke engine about a week ago, i was driving at medium throttle, when there was a loud bang, the piston got two good holes in it and is completely trashed. the housing had a small amount of scoring by the intake. i bought a new casing a gasket and piston. any idea how this happened, anything helps thanks.

Do the holes look like something broke inside & punched thru the piston, or did the piston get too hot & burn thru??

This is my first engine so i don't know much, but to me it looks like something punched through

Wow, is the cylinder damaged?

There is a little at the intake port nothing to bad im replacing it anyway

It looks like the wrist pin came loose, maybe one of the clips was not in good.

when i took out the piston all the clips where solid and the wrist pin was in there

I looks like a nut came loose & went down the intake manifold!

I would open up the engine to make sure it's not still inside the engine case

Is the slide still in the carb?

yeah there wasnt anything missing no bolt or anything, i ordered another piston and cylinder, i've been doing research my guess is the chinese piston was crap and i just pushed it to hard and took a chip out which then caused the other hole, by slide do you mean the choke?

The choke plate, the carb slide.....that's a big hole, haha.

yeah that still there, a rock could have flew in there i didn't have a air filter on at the time, kinda regret that now lmao

Yep. Anything can fly off the rear tire and straight down the tubes...
