Stressed out

    Well, I haven't run a BGF kit, but I would say you should start out by replacing the spark plug with an NGK BP6HS, personally I would replace the plug wire and boot as well. If you weigh over 200lbs I would recommend you replace the chain with some #41 chain, though I can't comment on the chain BGF supplies, the chain in my Grubee kits was garbage. I replaced the throttle too, but that was more out of choice than necessity. The fuel valve leaves much to be desired, the flow is weak and they tend to leak, I replaced that this year too, but this would be more choice than necessity as well. The head, exhaust, intake and mounting studs are usually pretty weak, I replaced them this year as well with a nice set from SBP. Not exactly sure what size studs come on a BGF motor so you better get a look at what you got before you order anything there. Thats probably another optional upgrade, but its better than having a stud break off in your motor...

    THANK YOU, nightcruiser I been looking all around for the upgrades I Needed and couldn't find anything. Or got 5 different answers to this question. Now I am going to order all that stuff do I also need to change the gaskets too. I think I read that somewhere.

    Some people replace the intake and exhaust gaskets, I myself have never had a problem with them. With the solid SBP studs, some gasket sealer on both surfaces and torqued properly with blue loctite on the threads I have never had a problem with the gaskets. That said, its not a bad idea to have some spare gaskets on hand. I would suggest looking at SickBikeParts.com for some upgrades, they have good stuff and I have always received top notch customer service from them....
    PS you might also want to have a few spare woodruff keys on hand in case one fails....

    I agree with NC's mentioned upgrades, I did the same on my HT build. After spending way too much time on the forums planning out my build, I ended up getting initially:

    - 66cc BGF RB80, in retrospect probably would have gone with the Pirate PK-80 for a few $ more just for peace of mind and not having the wider spaced intake studs

    From SBP:
    - SBP fuel valve: read too many horror stories about the stock ones leaking or not flowing enough, for $10, this is a nice sturdy petcock
    - NGK B6HS spark plug: cheap and plugs are important, I never even screwed in the stock China plug
    - AL exhaust gasket (which I still have not used) and extra head gasket. I figured I would need a new head gasket since the first thing I planned on doing with the motor before mounting was taking the head off to make sure there was no shrapnel in the cylinder. They say you can just re-use the original one, but I figured I was already there...
    - SBP head stud kit and bolt kit: once again read so many horror stories about weak studs and the nightmare of getting snapped studs out, decided to replace them from the beginning. The allen head screws in the SBP kit look nice, too

    From my local motorcycle shop:
    - 3/16" fuel line, the thinner kind. People say the stock fuel line is junk, it felt that way to me, so I went ahead and got better fuel line. I went with 3/16" since I wanted it tiiiight. I think 1/4" would probably work too, but with 3/16" it was a struggle to get it on, but after it was on I found I did not need hose clamps
    - Fuel filter. Mine had a good amount of black stuff in it pretty much immediately, I think paint chips...

    During my install, before I even fired the motor one time, my spark plug boot disintegrated! When people say they are crap, they really are! Al.Fisherman here has an awesome replacement cap and wire, FWIW. I loved the Rajah cap he uses so much that I transferred it over to the plug wire that came on the coil with my Jaguar CDI.

    As well, when trying to get my rag joint and sprocket centered on the rear tire, I gave up after about 7 hours of trying to get it right and ordered a sprocket adapter from Pirate Cycles. While there are many others here who get them to work, I think KC says he can get one on and centered in about 15 minutes, I could not. :-||

    So none of those upgrades are *needs*, but that is what I did for my install and would follow the same path again.

    One note I would give about the allen head replacement bolts for the block, since you can get such a better grip on the allen heads than the original bolts make sure you dont over torque them....
    The sintered bronze in-line fuel filter from SBP is nice, SBP also has some nice cone style air filters. Can't remember if I mentioned LOCTITE, red for studs into block and blue on the studs where the nuts tighten down. Do yourself a favor and use loctite on the nuts instead of over torquing them. (note: You must use a torch to remove red loctite, I wouldn't use it on the weak studs you get with the kit, but if you do upgrade the studs I would use red loctite when you install them)

    I had referred to them as a source for good upgrade parts in a previous post in this thread.

    Thank you very much, I order 2 sets of spark plugs, that you mentioned and Iam going to order new spark wires.
