steel rims- ok for MB?

Say I built up a wheel with beefy spokes and maybe a drum brake hub, would a steel rim be acceptable to use? If I used drum brakes the braking issues that exist on steel rims with rim brakes is a non issue. Would a steel rim have any advantage over an alloy rim?
Thanks

Steel rims are definitely acceptable. I don't know if they're better than a good alloy wheel.

But I believe they're better than a cheapo alloy wheel.

I've made builds with 26" steel rims and cheap 700c alloy rims, all builds using regular shoe bike breaks. Honestly, upgraded breaks aren't all that necessary. As long as you've got them adjusted right and it's not raining, you should have any problems stopping in time. Anyways, both wheel types work pretty much the same for torque handling purposes. No bent spokes so far, but the 700c rims do bend easier if you hit a pothole.

yeah steel is good its just heavier. I've had alloy rims that rim brakes don't work good on as well and steel ones that worked a lot better so it depends on other things than that.
