I broke off one of the bolts connecting the air intake bike to the block, attempted to extract the broken peice with a special extractor tool didn't work either, and drilling got me nowhere. I'm going to re-mount the engine with everything bolted on except for the one missing on the air intake pipe where I will slather it with a gasket sealant.. is this a long term solution or do you forsee another leak in the future?

Don't even try it. One bolt/stud will not hold the intake manifold in place with vibrations plus the weight of the carburetor on it. Repair it correctly. A machine shop will be able to extract that broken stud. Don't overtighten the replacement fastener.

As far as gasket sealers, most are not compatible with gasoline. Oil, grease, diesel fuel, but not gasoline. Read the labels.
