Shimano rear wheel hub play....

I have a little play in my 7 speed rear hub... Do I need to take the cassette off to tighten it??

All the videos ive watched show taking it all apart.... Can I tighten it on the non-cassette side??'

Bike: Firmstrong ca 520 7 speed....

if it has bearings and cones,,,yes you can adjust from the engine side of the hub

If its a standard non-sealed bearing Shimano freehub (sounds like it) all you need are wrenches to fit the nuts on the non-cassette side of the wheel - you don't need to pull the cassette.

Thanks, I had no problem tightening it up.... I loosened it a bunch in the process and put some new grease on both bearings.....
