Shimano 3 (vintage) to Shimano nexus 3 (current) compatibility

Hey so I have a little of a nut and gut issue...

The new Vs the old as it says above with my rig I face one single issue which "may can be fixed" with your help.

I have the nexus 3 but wish to blend my axle pusher with an older model the original Shimano 3...

The nexus device which controls the push rod is blocking the install of my secondary rack mount rods.

I was wondering is the thread of the nexus three compatible with the axle thread of the original shimano axle pusher rod.


I have compiled these two photos of the pushers from both which shimano made from different years....

Axles have two different threads 3/8" x 24 and 3/8" x 26. You can tell by taking a nut off the other side and see if it will go on by hand, if it binds the thread is different. They will start on then bind if not the same. But then I don't know where metric come in, I did find metric that fit the 3/8" x 26 but was really sloppy. Hope this helps............Curt
