right side drive?

sorry for stupid question. what is preventing the motor from being run facing the other way? would it run backwards? i would like the eliminate the need for a jackshaft system. i have the belt transmission.

A 2 stroke can run backwards, just change the direction of the pull cord and change the timing. So yes, you can have a right side drive if you want.

4 stroke you can use a chain with a sprocket pushes on outside of chain, with a shaft ( jack shaft ), with a drive sprocket to rear wheel. It will be reverse direction...........Curt

or just come up with a better gear reductions box, and put a cent clutch on and feed it to the rear, then move the ignition to a hall sensor on the now un used side. slap a little ac gennie in there rectified to feed a small lipo battery and have tht battery run the ignition system. you can get programmable ones, set the timing any way ya want. there are many posts about backwards running these on here. check 'em out, lots of good info.

you lost me there. but i have seen someone with a tuneable ecu for a homemade turbo shopping go kart

on the clutch side, instead of a manual clutch with a 20 and 80 tooth ( or whatever it is, it's a 4 or a 4.1 to 1 ratio usually), what you do id make a better gear reduction system and have it tied to a cent clutch. by doing tht you can reverse the rotation of the drive, and reduce at the same time with out actually running the motor backwards. if you really wanna get crazy, figure out how to change back and forth and you have reverse gear too!!

i'm thinking an adjustable synchro gear and gear with two ratio's stacked on each other. use the manual clutch and cable to activate the reverse gear. like you pull the clutch, it slides the synchro in place and the spring on the clutch shaft shifts the second gear into the counter rotating reverse gear, giving you reverse.
