Removing Small Gear

Well after only 17 miles my chain locked up and toasted the woodruff key.
I tried the removel tool only to strip the threads on it.
The dam gear is ON THERE!
Is there somthing eles I could use to get this gear off?

You might try heating it a little with a propane torch.

I got a engine from someone that must of had the same problem happen. I wanted the engine as it had broken engine mounts (the casting), and wanted to experiment on repair. The gear had been spot wielded on. To get it off out comes the 4" grinder.
