Rear Nut and Bolt....Puzzled

So I need to loosen the cone on the left side where the 44 tooth sprocket is, but can't seem to loosen that nut. On the Right side it comes off, but doesn't relieve any pressure on the left side, would this be due to the adapter being on the spokes? I'm freaking confused, here's a few pics of the issue.

What are you referring to? The adjuster? The axle nut?

The right side I can get off the left side with the 44 sprocket I can't remove for some reason the nut doesn't turn...stumped.

can't see much in the pics, but I'd first take sprocket off to see if it is binding against some kind of dust cap or something in there

Thanks I was kinda of thinking that, but didn't want to deal with the hassle..haha! I appreciate the advice.
