Prepping frame

I just got what I think is a suitable frame and I’m doing what I think is right so far. I was going to take off the grip shifters and brakes and pedals, but not sure about the gears. Actually if I have a jackshaft do I need to keep the grip shifters? I think I’m supposed to also take off the chain because I’ll be ordering a 415. I also took off the reflectors and water bottle holder and stuff like that but I’ll put new reflectors and lights on when I’m further along, probably a near the end step. The handlebars on this bike are a bit rusty, with like small dots of rust. Tried scraping it off and it came off easily enough, should I replace them or just try and remove the rust? I also wiped the dirt and dust off with some WD40 and a rag. Anything else I should do before I order and install the engine mount? Thanks :)

you definately need the shifter to shift the gears and the brakes are obv needed, dont kw what the point is in taking off the pedals unless necessary, where would your feet rest? also itll look worse to the cops if it doesnt have pedals
I would wait till the kit is there to start disassembling stuff, you dont want to take off anything you dont have to. smae thing goes for engine mounts.
also handlebar rust can just be sanded and then repaint it with a protective paint.
