Predator 212 ghost

Hello.. fng here.., I must be missing something.. I've used the search function. And not getting any info on the 212 predator engine that comes from the factory with no.govenor, gotta be a win win situation, no?? Anybody using one of these, I'm leaning towards this,

As stock they’re garbage compared to the 212. Comes with a plastic cam. If you want a higher displacement go for the tillotson line of blocks. They’re stronger and have better castings anyway.

Oh yeah, definitely. Those are shortblocks and complete kits for karting racers. However I’ve never just grabbed a 212 and slapped it right on a bike. There are a number of minor mods I do. I know I’ve posted it here. For a first timer maybe 4-5 hours of prep and maybe get new side cover and head gaskets in case you mess them up your first time. Find that post; I’d go with the 212 and sort of get to a point where you know what you’re doing on the cheap, then move on to the more expensive tilly blocks. You may be happy with the 212 lightly modded performance. I was, I put around 25k miles on two blocks.
 
It's my understanding that the 212cc Ghost engines were created for the Kart racing world to try to create a new mild performance / 'stock' engine class... (something fun & 'stock' that everyone would agree to use to keep racing costs down).

From what I remember, the Ghost engine comes with a stronger cast aluminum connecting rod, flat top piston, mild cam, stronger cast flywheel, & a small Mikuni style carb.... (it's nothing hard core).

Given a choice, the next small block that I build would start with a 224cc Predator because it comes from the factory with a stroker crank & a Tillotson style block.... then, for a just little more money in parts, you can build a much better engine than the Ghost!


As far as the 212 Predator, the 224 or the Tillotson... the governors are all very easy to remove... but you'll still have to beef up all the internal parts because they aren't designed to take the high revs... (the Ghost can).

I confused the 212 ghost for the 224 predator. If you want a racing style 212 engine the better choice is the ducar 212 from eccarburetors. Cheaper too and comes with a real flywheel. Casual old man I’d go for stock 212, no clearance issues for when you upgrade to billet rod and stronger cam.
 
OK, may pick up one of these, any recommendations?? The first one says 60's w.f. and then a nel lusso, and a hiffy cranbrook, and the last one is unknown make

Just see that a bunch of these have been done before, was just curious if one was better than the other. OK there all ****.. throw some models out there.
 
Without the governor's restrictions, the engine will respond more directly to throttle input, potentially leading to quicker acceleration.
