Potential new gas tank

I'm thinking of changing out my peanut tank to the tank off of a Honda XL500. The proportions are close, but the tank seems to be just a touch too big. Any ideas on the direction this should take? I do like this style of tank.

I think I would need a layback seat post to make this configuration 'comfortable'.....

I think your backside will give out long before your fuel supply does. Wow! A China Girl will probably run for a month on that tank.

I wish you'd have said something about a layback seat post when you were here. I had one I'd have given you. How far back will you need to go? The one I have would have set you back about 7". Let me know. I'll send one to you.

I've got a paint scheme that should reduce the visual size of the tank --- paint the whole thing flat black with a lime green inset that will follow the tank lines similiar to the sides of a late '50's Corvette.

Also will have to do a little body work on the opposite side. It's just so different than the peanut.....
