Port match now, or later?

Hello,
My name is Steve. I will be receiving my first build kit on Thursday.
It is a Zeda 80 triple 40, firestorm. I will be putting it on an older all steel diamond back mountain bike.
My question is, should I port match the intake and exhaust before I install it, or after the 200 mile break in?
Instinct tells me before, but I'm asking for advise from people who have "been there, done that"
Thank you in advance

depends almost entirely on how many motors you've built - for new builders, any change from standard can make figuring out why it doesn't run right much harder

Ok,
That makes sense.
This will be my first build, but I'm no stranger to motors, or metal fab.
I will just match the gaskets to the ports, run the break in and see where I'm at.
Thank you

these are simple motors, but the lack of manufacturing standards and quality control make each one just a bit diff from the last - some things you will learn after a few builds go against all you may have learned from real factory motors
