some of the stuff i have read on older threads state that you cannot register one of these bikes in oregon. this is straight out of the motorcycle and moped handbook the state puts out.
A moped must have an independent power source that is a power drive system
that functions directly or automatically and does not require clutching or shifting
by the operator after the system is engaged. A moped cannot be capable of
propelling the moped at speeds of more than 30 mph on level ground AND, if
the moped’s power source is a combustion engine, it cannot be larger than 50
cubic centimeters. Mopeds also include cycles designed as bicycles, if they are
equipped with a power source meeting the legal definition.
has anybody tried registering one of these 49cc bikes as mopeds in oregon lately?
Thanks.
