Just finished the final assembly on my bike last sat. Went for a ride later in the evening and was hit while in the bike lane by a hit and run driver, now my bike is toasted and Im trying to salvage what I can to begin re building.

Some Luck Huh??

Man! That really, really sucks! I hope you were not injured. Sucks about your bike but it can be fixed. There are some crazy drivers out there and we all need to be very defensive when out on the road. Not much you can do from being hit from behind.

I got hit a little while ago by a side mirror and it really stunned me. By the time I realized what had happened the driver was gone. All I know was it was a truck pulling a trailer.
 
When I used to drive, I would always veer a bit to the left and give cyclists extra room.I notice that some drivers even change lanes if it's safe to be extra carefull in avoiding cyclists. :-/
