Did someone say Mongoose or GT? I still have my Mongoose Kos Kruiser from 1981 and a 24" GT cruiser. I did my first 3D mock-up on a tank last night then immediately changed it. I had left the sides flat with a tapered nose. It didn't look right being full width in the rear so I pulled in the width of the tail. The tank now tapers continuously from the widest point where the gas cap will sit. It tapers forward from the cap and then back from the cap. It still follows the side view of the Reading Standard boardtrack racer. I had figured that most people would paint these tanks but it seems most everyome is just leaving them in a raw finish. Flybytaco, your build is looking great and the chrome fork, bars and wheels will tie in nicely with a raw stainless tank. I will start a thread and show the tank mock-up once I get my home computer back on line. Look for some spy photos early next week. I hope to get through the design phase this weekend and then get a couple prototype tanks cut next week.

Here are a couple views of the current CAD file. I will start a separate thread as this develops further.

Looks like that pipe may limit the width of your gas tank...
On my Worksman build seat post I used a solid piece of 12" x 1" round stock steel bent to a 90. Six inches in the seat tube and six to allow the seat to move back. It was heated and bent with the sharpest corner possible. The steel wants to bend in a semi-circle fashion unless it's super heated.

This bike has a new paint scheme (black and cream)

the tank is not permanent waiting for the custom one. pipe is also going to be remade to fit the tank in and make it shorter

Hey Pat,

You should post a pic of your latest autocad design of the worksman tank, although the changes are subtle, I think your newest rendering is right on the money and very well in-line with the black motor bike that you pictured in your earlier posts.

The Worksman's builders are going to be impressed, that's for sure! Don't forget the rough-cut flame job on my next tank...brnot

It would be nice to be able to get a Workman rear rim with a Manics hub ready to go. Nice looking bikes guys those peanut tanks just don't cut it. Great your getting a custom tank. Real nice

Its coming Steve..
We already stock the wheels but unfortunately the regular CB-110 adapter we have are a tight fit on the worksman rear wheel, due to the 11 GA. spokes. Jim is cutting us 20 adapters to work with the Worksman wheels that we now stock.

Soon Steve Soon. We want to give people what they desire in this industry. We have 10 tanks coming and they will be sold with the worksman bikes as a package. Sprocket adapter and all the other goodies will be included..

I love what you guys are doing - A kit like this is long overdue and I'm sure will be a great success. Props for stepping up.

I think a drop loop bottom tube is critical for a killer BTR look. May I suggest a kit that contains a drop loop bottom tube and upper tube extensions with instruction for cutting. Most people don't have the means to fab up this kind of stuff and a simple kit like this would be easily installed by most welding shops.

Justin,
You should stock the aluminum Worksman rims, too. It's only money, right?
Pat,
We have the regular aluminum worksman rims in stock now (not painted). I have to update my site in a huge way.. I got tons of stock that is not even listed as of yet. This weekend I will list my worksman stuff. Its just hard because everything is like ala cart with the worksman bikes. Thanks for the reassurance of a good purchase though. Its money well spent, right Pat?

These will be nice. The moc up tanks looked sweet..

Thanks,
Justin

Hey Justin,
I have finally finished up the prototype Worksman tank for your new line of bikes. Pirate decals will be here shortly. Here are the very first photos. I will start a thread in the general section with more info. I sure hope I got the shape right. Tank is 100% stainless steel except for the o-ring and breather on the gas cap. Oh, and the cap is aluminum.
