New Here - How to keep my gas tank from destroying my knees?

I recently acquired a bike from a friend that left town. After getting it cleaned up, I took it for a ride, and over an hour or so rather destroyed my knees on the gas tank.

See the little black lip that runs around the side of the tank? The sides of my knees seem to occasionally run into it, and it's not very forgiving.

Is this a common problem? Is there a way to adjust the bike, or something I can put over the sides of the tank (that doesn't look like crap)?

Thanks!

PS - And greetings, btw.

I had the same problem, you could always just raise the seat so your knees don't stick out so much.flg.

I'd have to say just relax. There's no need to clinch the tank with your legs. These tanks are not like rockets where there designed to be clinched.

Oh, I don't know about that. If I don't clinch my tank with my knees the bike goes and I stay put. :)

Lol Thats great.

I hope the edge protector works and if that doesn't help definetly try the raise the seat up that was mentioned, thats what I did.
