New 80 CC Motor with Bent Front Mounts

Hi to all From El Paso Texas. Im here to learn and recently I bought an 80 cc motor only on ebay from a seller with rose in the seller id's name. I got a motor with a hole in the cylinder wall so I took pictures and contacted the seller. The seller said I could return it for an exchange. I paid 12 bucks to ship it back and a week later I got this Motor. It has really bent front mounting studs to the point I believe this engine may have been dropped or something based on how bent the studs are. I am afraid if I try and remove them they may strip the threads and the seller might think I did it. Should I try and fix this problem myself or should I ship it back for a refund. Thanks.

I'd rather risk having to helicoil the threads than deal with that seller any more, but they *should* unscrew easily without damage.

Who was it that sent those POS engines?
 
Dang, I would ask for a refund on everything, including both shipping costs. It will cost you a total of $24.00 (returning 2 defective engines) + shipping costs to initially get the engine. Why take a chance on another engine since she screwed you over twice - why get screwed 3 times:) Seems like she's selling defective products.

I wouldnt be suprised if that was a used engine and re painted. Checkout the overspray where the wiring comes out. Studs should screw out quite easily. If your going to keep it replace them all with stronger items those are rubbish.
 
The seller was actually quick to respond with the following message-

"Sorry for the situation, you would try to make it straight, or I would send 2 screws to you for replace, please advise,thanks"

Well I guess Im starting to see my options, I may have to take the two screws since a refund was not mentioned.
 
If the engine has problems after installation THEN think about sending it back. But as far as the ALL of the studs go, (and the nuts too,) You should always replace them with a better quality anyway. They are CHEAP and will strip on you almost every time.

PS, This goes for the sprocket nuts and bolts too.

Simply replace the studs and problem is fixed.
Now that seller has seen picture of how you started, if it strips, contact him again and he should work with you. I've dealt with rose and had good results. One of my go to vendors.
Keep in mind, the vendor never sees the box.
Also, I would take extra care inspecting this engine since it has seen rough shipping, but from the pictures, it looks like just the studs are damaged which is an easy fix.

It's my opinion that the engine is a return that was sprayed to make it look new. I would open a case with e-bay, especially since this is a return of a return. You should not have paid return shipping on the first motor. If the vendor never sees the package, then the vendor needs to find a better supplier. Don't put up with shoddy biz practices. If your not sure call e-bay's live operator and explain what has transpired. They will advise you as to how to proceed if you haven't used buyer protection. I sound like an e-bay fanboy, which I'm not. I used the buyer protection the other day for the first time and was very satisfied with the result. If anything I would say e-bay is more biased toward the buyer than the seller. Of course I may live in dreamland and my one time experience is just that, but you have nothing to lose at this point.
 
Ive bought many HT motors and I NEVER got one painted silver? You can see paint on the bent studs. You got a used engine there?! I wouldn't take a chance.

ALL of the motors from this seller are PAINTED SILVER.
The paint is on the wires, gaskets, bolts, etc because they are painted after the motor is assembled.

I got to removing the studs today and they came off without incident. The rest of the motor looks to be in good working order. I plan on taking off the jug and giving it a good prep before starting. I noticed this motor came with two gaskets at the base of the cylinder when I usually see them come with one. Has anyone ever get a motor with two base gaskets on the bottom of cylinder.
