So here is my Motorized Schwinn I built for my fall semester. Nothing too fancy. I hope to add an aluminum body/guard sometime in the near future.

I'm starting college and plan on waiting till the spring to bring mine. My campus is in the 'hood.

What are you gonna do for security, and where will you lock it? Need advice. :D

Luckily my campus requires all bikes (motorized or not) to be registered with the school. Each is assigned a serial specific to the owner, which discourages student theft. However, I have tungsten lock as well for the times I'm less sure.

As far as having a sketchy campus... A low-profile bike is your best bet. the less pizazz the better. People are nefarious though, and if they want something badly enough....

Only gamble with what you are willing to lose.

How to Choose a Bike Lock

A little info from REI. Personally I use two cable locks, one to lock the front wheel to the frame and bike rack and the other to lock my helmet to the frame and rear wheel. Probably wouldn't hurt to "sabotage" your engine too.

I will be getting a topcase for locking the helmet, as well as some GPS security to go a long with my vibration activated security alarm before I take it down to campus.
