muffler smoking?

It's probaly just oil and grease that got on it while you were building it just burning off. It will burn off after one ride.

The engine will also smoke for a bit, but it's just Oil burning off.

It would help to know what engine you have. 2 stroke? 4 stroke? If a 2 stroke what fuel/oil ratio are you using?

^^^This.

If you're breaking in a new 2 cycle engine at 16:1, it'll most likely smoke -----from multiple places.

Good luck

if you have a muffler with the large catalytic converted inside, it will eventually burn all the paint off the middle

16:1 is too much oil. The kit instructions are WRONG!. 24 or even 32:1 is enough oil. An oil rich mix will cause you some problems. Smoke is only one of them.

I'm doing mine at 32:1 with Echo 2 cycle oil. After I finish the 'break-in', I plan to just use the 50:1 ratio that my Echo trimmer uses. Everything that I've researched shows that the Echo oil is towards the top concerning quality.
