hello everyone i am having troubles building a kill switch for my ww bike
and i dont really get what the wiring would look like and how they work
(even though i have been told 100 times what it looks like i still dont understand)

do i use 12v volt switches?

Can i use a push button momentary switch?

(it would really help if you could get a picture or diagram of how you wire up these things
cos i dont get it at all its just one of those things i need 2 see with my own eyes.)

Thanks daxtit

Tell us what you have first so we can go from there. Do you have the two wires that went to the kill switch on the weed whacker still attached to the magneto. If so just wire any old switch into those.

If not take a picture of your magneto.... so we can tell how they were hooked up before.

well my ww engine just has 1 wire coming out of the magneto
for the switch and thats it.

the old switch that was attached to the housing was
a piece of metal screwed onto a plastic knob that could slide up and down
if you slide it down the little piece of metal would
slide onto another piece of metal and if u slide it up the piece of metal on
the plastic knob would not touch the other piece of metal.
heres a diagram below of wat it looks like. keep in mind i dont want to use this switch because i need the house to use it and i cant use the house

thanks for all the help

The one wire from the magnito will go to the switch and the other side of the switch will go to something grounded to the motor. I hooked mine to the motor mount. That's do it

when that wire is grounded the magneto is killed. It's how all the kill switches I know work. It shorts out the spark. When you flip you kill switch it puts a ground onto that wire and onto the magneto. That shorts the mag out before it can send power to the plug.

Any open closed switch will work just fine. A heavy duty one is probably better You might be able to burn up a small one. I use a house type wall switch a lot. But that is way way overkill.

I got in the workshhop today and i found 2 little
automotive switches rated around 12v they should work a charm
i just have to test were the positive and negative sides are on the switch.bld.

There is no positive negative side to a switch. it is open or closed. Think of it as a single broken wire. When you close the switch you are only putting the two ends together.
